My motivation for the next year

Whether or not you win this thing, you have to decide how you are going to walk out of here when its all said and done. Because the game is going to go on and there's only one rule you're need to know, there are no second chances, there's only this moment and the next moment. Every one of those moments is a test that you get to take one time and only one time. So if you see an opening tear into it, if you get a shot at victory, make damn sure you take it, seize that moment, that moment is a cross roads where everything you want will collide with everything that stands in your way. You've got momentum at your back, fear and doubt are thundering like a freight train straight at you and all you got, the only thing between making history and being history, the only thing, the only thing that you can count on any given moment is you. Its you versus them, its you versus no, its you versus can't, its you versus next year, last year, statistics, excuses, you versus history, you versus the odds, you versus second place, the clock is ticking, lets see what you got.

Genesis and family reunions

Today I was reading Genesis 45 and 46, this is the culmination of a story of epic proportions. Favored son is sold into slavery, bought by a wealthy government official, accused of raping officials wife, thrown into prison, interpreted dreams, got out of prison, explained pharaohs dreams, exalted to second highest person in the land. If the story would have stayed right there, the story would still be a pretty epic representation of the American way, but it goes further, it has a hollywood twist. The same brothers that sold him into slavery come and want to buy food from him. Now we are set up for the perfect Hollywood revenge story, but it never comes, oh yes, he has a bit of fun with them, but in the end he tells his brothers the whole story, not only that, he gives then land and tells them to bring their whole family and most importantly, his father to live with him in Egypt. I was thinking about that family reunion that took place in both chapter 45 and 46. Both his brothers and his father thought he was for sure dead, it makes me think of the amazing family reunion that will happen when Jesus comes again, those that are dead and those that some think are dead will both, with those that are still alive, will be raised up to meet God in the air.

I guess this really is hit home because in a few short days I'll be heading to Yellowstone for our annual family reunion. It's three days of amazing family time. We'll get to meet new family members, commune with old ones and enjoy the time that we spend together. But just like Sabbath is a reminder of what its going to be like in heaven, so are the family reunions that we have on this earth, they point to the eternal family reunion that we will enjoy when the last trumpet sounds and we are all caught up to meet God in the air.
